I Finished 'Vase of Flowers'

I feel really good about finishing one of my WIPs (Works in Progress) so I can hang it up and feel spring in the air.
Here is 'Vase of Flowers' complete, even to label and hanger on the back.  It measures 23 wide  x 29 inches long.

A close-up view of it.

I hung it in my living room over my glass cabinet doors.  Now when I sit in my living room, I feel a bit that maybe spring is around the corner.

Though you can't prove it by the weathermen here and nationally.  They claim another storm is coming our way on Tuesday.  The one we had last nite totaled a small inch which was very nice.  And the fact that there was no water to freeze over, made it even better.

Have a good day.

I Did Some Crocheting Tonite.

I couldn't work on my quilting, so I pulled out some dish towels and crocheted them to hang on oven door handles.
This pair is for Xmas, with Poinsettias all over it.

This is another Xmas pair with a scene of the North Pole on them.  Its nice to get a head start on the coming Xmas season.  I happened to have these already cut out from last December, so I thought I'd work on Xmas.

We got our snow and its stopped.  This is the mild snow we were expecting and it looks like less than an inch of snow on the ground.  They tell us more is coming this weekend and it should be a LOT more so our winter isn't quilt finished yet.

Have a nice day.

My Sewing Machine Called Me....

......so I sat and quilted on Vase of Flowers.  I did a Diagonal Line quilting in only one direction.  I now have to decide on binding and get that done.  And of course, make my label.
The wall hanging to date.

A close-up of the diagonal line quilting.

Here's Frosty and Friends pinned and ready for quilting.  I'm thinking swirling quilting so it looks a bit like its snowing out.

Winter Cottage is also pinned and ready for quilting.  I may get to these tomorrow.
The day is getting grayer with snow on the way.  They say it is already snowing southeast of us so we'll get some soon.
I like to quilt when its light and bright from my windows.  My lighting isn't the best in my bedroom where I do my sewing these days.  The lamps have lower wattage than I prefer for sewing.
I think I'll settle on the sofa and get a hanging dish towel make instead.  That will keep me busy.
Have a good day.

I Needed a New Sleep Mask In a Hurry.

I surely had to have a replacement sleep mask and quickly.   My current one has had the elastic retied a few times due to stretching.
This took only minutes to assemble and then minutes to sew together.   I didn't add any embellishments or lace to this quickie.   The backing is white satin for smoothness on the face.
I learned that using decorative hair bands instead of elastic works great.  They come in colors and different designs so one can match whatever mask is made.  They also have great stretching ability and are really comfy around the head.

That's about it for my sewing today.  I have an aching neck.  I must have slept wrong last nite.  Today I heal and maybe I can sew again tomorrow.
Have a Good Day.

Here are Some Xmas Shadow Panels I'm Working On.

This was a new technique for me but I enjoyed it.  It takes longer to make a project with the shadow layer and the careful stitching to hold it in place, but I've enjoyed it.
I have to add the borders on these three panels and proceed from there.  If I keep at them in the next few months, I should have them ready before Xmas this year.
Here's number 01 with Xmas lights, a Stocking,  and "Joy" printed on it.  These will be ideal for hanging on doors.

This is number 02 with Elves, a Sled and Presents.

Number 03 is a Gingerbread Man, Snowman and the word "Noel" in it.
I think I have the fabric that will work for borders on these, a different one for each panel.
With our expecting some more snow this week, I thought working on Xmas projects is apt.
Have a good day.

Borders Are OnTwo Wallhangings.

I really had a difficult time remembering how to thread and run my Viking, its been so long since I used it.  But it works like a charm and with a few tries, I have it all set in my brain on what does what.

This is 'Winter Cottage' with the blue borders on it which will make it useful thru all the cold and winter months.  Its the same fabric that I used for the roof.

'Frosty and Friends' is a bit larger wallhanging, and it too, has borders that make it season neutral so I can hang it more months during the year.
Have a good day.

I'm Still Choosing Fabrics.....

Its such good fun, choosing fabrics for projects.
I will call this one Flowers in Season because its just Irises and Roses which blossom about the same time in Maine.  The early roses, that is.
I chose dark and medium or light tone on tones for the flowers which are lined up on the right, along with what I might use as greenery in the vase.  On the left are the bright green print vase fabric, tiny floral for the tablecloth and an actual doily for the doily under the vase.
The method for this one will be Replique (black outlining).

This is Frosty and Friends with the chosen border across the top.  I think that will work well because of the greens and reds which are taken from the subject itself.

Winter Cottage I did in normal applique so I could stuff batting behind the snowman and the snowpiles along the bottom and the rooftops.  I wanted that extra dimension.  The border print I chose is the red one along the top of the block but I still may change it to  be more neutral so I can hang this one all thru the winter season, not just Christmastime.
I have this against my Frosty WH.  The bluish sides are NOT going on this WH.

Decisions, Decisions.......For Winter Cottage I may use this border instead.  Its in my favorite color, the same as the roof of the cottage, and its winter neutral to use from Oct thru May in this part of the country where winter reigns.

Have a good day.
